Global Investors to hold international Climate Forum in NYC

As the U.S. Congress debates major climate legislation and the UN conference in Copenhagen draws near, leading global investors representing trillions of dollars will meet at an international forum on climate change on September 16, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. EDT, at the Grand Hyatt. At noon, these investors will hold a press conference to unveil a major policy statement designed to unlock essential investment worldwide into a global low-carbon economy. Investors and top company executives will also discuss at the press conference the economic opportunities offered by the climate legislation currently under consideration in the U.S.

The forum is sponsored by Ceres’ U.S. Investor Network on Climate Risk (INCR), the European Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change, (IIGCC) the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), the New York State Comptroller’s Office, and the P8 Group.

Forum attendees who will speak at a noon EDT media briefing are:

* Lord Nicholas Stern, Chair of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change at the London School of Economics and Special Advisor to the Group Chairman of HSBC on Economic Development and Climate Change;
* Thomas P. DiNapoli, New York State Comptroller;
* Rob Lake, APG Investments and IIGCC;
* Bill Lockyer, California State Treasurer and INCR member;
* Nathan Fabian, CEO, Investor Group on Climate Change Australia/New Zealand; and
* Eric B. Svenson, Vice President, Environment, Health and Safety, PSEG Services Corporation.
